Eaton Canyon Trail with Bert
⛰️ Trail:
The trail is approximately 3 miles round trip, generally rated as easy. However, due to frequent stream crossings and a rougher path near the waterfall, the actual experience might feel like a medium-level hike. The waterfall is about 40 feet (12 meters) tall and is a smaller waterfall. Since much of the trail runs along a stream and includes multiple crossings, it is well-shaded and ideal for hiking on cooler summer days.
⛰️ Clothing Recommendations:
The first half of the trail features an easy, flat dirt path with little shade, so it is recommended to wear light, sun-protective clothing to prevent sunburn. For the water crossings and rocky areas near the waterfall, water hiking shoes are highly recommended to protect your feet and ensure ease of movement even when wet. If you do not have water hiking shoes, Crocs could be used as an alternative, but be cautious of sharp rocks in the water. It’s advised to wear quick-drying or lightweight long pants since the path becomes rugged and sharp rocks are present; shorts are not recommended.
⛰️ Dog-Friendliness:
The trail is dog-friendly, but dogs must be kept on a leash throughout. The trail is not steep, making it manageable for most dogs, and wading through the water can help prevent heat stroke in dogs. Poop bags are provided at the trailhead, but it’s still a good idea to bring your own, along with a water bowl for your dog.
Location:
There is a parking area available at the trailhead.
